This Sunday was particularly special in the life of our church for several reasons.  The first reason is that, after almost 5 years meeting in New Hope Elementary we have decided to move at the beginning of June down the road to Community Christian School here in Wilson.  As we look back we have been extremely blessed by God to have a place to gather and worship and serve out of and as we look forward to the future we hope to do all of those things exponentially.

Secondly this Sunday we had a special guest, Michael Bennett, and his lovely wife Tracy join us and Michael played the drums with our worship team.  Jonathan opened our time of corporate worship by reading from Psalm 69 as our call to worship.  We started off singing the bridge and chorus of “Marvelous Light” declaring the reason we sing is because “sin has lost its power and death has lost its sting and from the grave You’ve risen victoriously!”  We built up into “At The Cross” further singing the truth of God’s word and the glorious gospel and flowing right into “Forever“.  Justin read from Ephesians 2:11-22 reminding us in verse 13 that “now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”  We sang “Completely Done” from Sovereign Grace’s album “Sons and Daughters” and saw a beautiful example of the blessings Christ gives by His finished work on the cross.  All this flowed into our last song before our sermon “Nothing But The Blood” (Passion version) and the line, straight from our text “Your blood speaks a better word…speaks righteousness to me and stands in my defense”.  Then Justin preached from Hebrews 12:18-24.  The passage exhorts us to live as sons and daughters of God, not in order to gain favor but because we have been counted righteous in Christ.  Justin said “right living flows from a right understanding of what God has done for us in Christ.”  Because of rich spiritual blessings found in Christ in the new covenant we should never desire the old covenant of fear and separation from God.  In light of the fact that Christ has done what the law could never do we sang “I Stand Amazed In The Presence (How Marvelous)” as our desire to see our Savior face to face draws nearer.
